off the beaten path.

So, here's the scoop. A bunch of us went to see this place (above), Motezuma Castle. Basically, it's a dwelling in the side of the mountain that has been there for thousands and thousands of years, which means that we had to each pay $5 to stand and stare at it.

Part of that $5 also allowed me to stand next to this river.

On our way out, we saw this pretty neat car. Janelle and Lisa are in awe.

How could we see Montezuma Castle and skip seeing the Montezuma Well? Obviously, we couldn't. We drove another ten minutes to see the above picture. Apparently the people that built the castle sometimes got their water here. Scary. (Kevin informed us it probably isn't the place to go skinny dipping.)

Down a bunch of stone steps, there are a bunch more dwellings that the Indians built.

Like this pretty dwelling above.

In spite of the sign clearly restricting people to go inside of the pretty dwelling, we can't help ourselves. We are all in our twenties, but act like horrible children. (I think we were bitter about the $5.)

Along the trail, we found this beautiful cove. Seeing that this was so beautiful, we couldn't help oursleves, and, once again, didn't pay much attention to the signs clearly marking the trail.

We made our own trail.

Laci and I stopped to rest for a minute or two.

This was our view.
Lesson? The beaten path is worth more than $5.
